Rhodie's Guide to Rescue Knots

"Rhodie's Guide to Rescue Knots is the 3rd Edition of Knots for the Rescue Service. This is a very informative, yet fun and lighthearted approach to knotcraft that is written specifically for the fire/rescue community.

Included in this book is multiple knots that have been categorized into specific "families". The Bowline family as presented in this book is probably one of the more extensive treatments of the bowline; including multi-point anchoring with the Portuguese Bowline, and taking tools aloft using the Spanish Bowline.

Rescue personnel from the recruit firefighter to seasoned mountain rescue and rope access technicians will find useful applications of knots in this resource.

About the Author:

Pat “Rhodie” Rhodes, a native of Phoenix Arizona, instructs rope access and rescue internationally. In 2005 Pat retired from the Phoenix Fire Department after 28 plus years of service as a technical rescue lead instructor and a veteran firefighter.
 
During his career with Phoenix he also served as a Rescue Specialist for FEMA Arizona Task Force 1, and was a member of the Validation Conference for IFSTA (International Fire Service Training Association). His specialties are in Rigging Physics, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, and Tower Rescue.
 
Pat has consulted and/or instructed fire department and technical rescue teams internationally. Pat has maintained a lifelong hobby of knot tying, and labels himself "a perpetual student of the art of knots”. He is always ready to discuss the subject.
