Choose a 32 in. or 36 in. curved American Hickory handle for this 6 lb. Council Tool Forcible Entry Flathead Fire Axe. Designed to improve performance and usability, this firefighter tool can chop, cut, batter, or be used as a door stop, along with many other municipal firefighting applications. 

The head of this axe is made with forged 4140 steel and has a slot so you can marry the axe to a Council Halligan or other Halligan tool so you can create “The Irons”. Measuring 5 in. long, the cutting edge of this firefighter axe head has a tapered wedge shaped blade, extended poll for counterbalance, and a flat top so the axe can stand on its own.

At a bit hardness of Rc 48-55 targeted 1.25 in. from the cutting edge, the head of this axe surpasses the ANSI Standards for a bit hardness of 45-60 set at least .5 in. back from the cutting edge.
