The forged tool steel head has a square poll and a 4.75 in. cutting edge that is hand sharpened and tapered for splitting and cutting. A red enamel coats the head while the edge is coated in clear lacquer, repelling rust.

By hydraulically seating the axe head into the handle and securing it with a serrated aluminum wedge, Council Tool ensures that this firefighter axe can withstand chopping, cutting, and more. The eye section is dried to below 10% moisture content, preventing loosening and minimizing shrinking while providing a strong mechanical bond.
