Council Tool 6 lb. Flathead Axe with Fiberglass Handle
With a forged tool steel head that’s fully polished and hand sharpened with a tapered bit for cutting, this 6 lb. firefighter flathead axe can be used for various municipal firefighter applications like battering, cutting, chopping, forcible entry, and more. The 5 in. cutting edge is heat treated to attain a Rc (Rockwell Hardness Value) of 45-55, creating a strong edge capable of withstanding the toughest missions. While the edge is coated against rust with clear lacquer, the body of the Dayton patterned axe head is painted a bright, fire engine red.
The axe head joins to the 36 in. yellow clad fiberglass handle with a strong epoxy that forms a mechanical and chemical bond. This handle has a traditional single bit shape and is constructed with a pultruded structural core covered with an injected molded polymer jacket.
